In this class we will be learning Chen-Style Tai Chi Chuan, a Chinese martial art and contemporary wellness practice. Chen-style Tai Chi emphasizes relaxation, alignment, and full-body coordination, working to develop both softness and dynamic power. Class will begin with silk-reeling warm-ups (a kind of chi-gong particular to tai chi), followed by a traditional Chen form, and will include practice in the partner exercises called push-hands. This class is open to all levels, and no prior experience in Tai Chi is necessary. As the form is a set sequence of movements that takes multiple sessions to learn, regular attendance is encouraged. However, it is not required, and the class is highly adaptable to individual levels and abilities.
