Daniel & Juan Pablo Siles
Daniel Siles is a Bolivian drummer/percussionist, based in Brooklyn, NY. He is interested in the intersection between art and science, and how each invariably informs the other. Juan Pablo Siles is a Brooklyn based composer and cultural organizer originally from La Paz, Bolivia. He is interested in sounds and gestures that break conventional perceptions of music and composition and the role of technology within multiple artistic disciplines.
Marion Spencer is a Brooklyn based dance artist. Her work has been presented by Gibney’s Work Up, Movement Research at the Judson Church, Triskelion Arts, the Dance Now Festival, and the Domestic Performance Agency. Her practice embraces pushing artistic, sociopolitical, personal and imaginative boundaries, while also siphoning nuanced human emotion. She currently dances for Kendra Portier and Kinesis Project Dance Theatre, and is collaborating with dance artist Simon Thomas-Train. In addition to making and performing, Marion teaches dance at Gibney, Dancewave, Greenwich Country Day School, and Girls Preparatory Charter Middle School.
New York based sound artist and composer Monte Weber’s work centers around interactive technology, computer assisted compositional processes, and wearable technology using these tools to explore live physical performance and sound creation in the concert hall. Weber’s music can be heard in in venues throughout the country including Kaneko Museum Omaha NE, National Sawdust, BK and Lincoln Center NYC.
Jordan Demetrius Lloyd
Jordan Demetrius Lloyd is a NYC based dance artist originally from Albany, NY. He is a 2016 graduate of The College at Brockport where he performed works by Maura Keefe and Alexandra Beller. He has performed for and collaborated with Karl Rogers/Red Dirt Dance, Tammy Carrasco/Wild Beast Dance, Brendan Drake, Netta Yerushalmy, Catherine Galasso, Laura Peterson and David Dorfman Dance. Sydnie L. Mosley
Sydnie L. Mosley is an artist-activist and educator who produces experiential dance works with her all-women company SLMDances. Through her choreographic work, the company works in communities to organize for gender and racial justice. Her evening length dances The Window Sex Project and BodyBusiness address sexual harassment in public spaces and the economics of NYC dance, respectively. In February 2017, Sydnie was recognized by NYC Mayor Bill de Blasio and First Lady Chirlane McCray for using her talents in dance to fuel social change. Sydnie is a part of the 2017 Bessie Award winning cast of the skeleton architecture, or the future of our worlds, curated by Eva Yaa Asantewaa. Other funding and recognitions include: Lincoln Center Education Manhattan Community Artist in Residence, LMCC Creative Engagement Grant, The Field Leadership Fund, CUNY Dance Initiative, Dancing While Black Artist Fellowship, The Performance Project @ University Settlement, Create Change Fellowship with The Laundromat Project, the Gibney Dance Institute for Community Action Training, and the inaugural Barnard Center for Research on Women Alumnae Fellow. She earned her MFA in Dance Choreography from the University of Iowa, and earned her BA in Dance and Africana Studies from Barnard College at Columbia University. Sydnie danced with Christal Brown’s INSPIRIT (2010-2013) and continues to appear as a guest artist for Brooklyn Ballet. An advocate for the field, Sydnie sits on the Advisory Committee to Dance/NYC.
A Native of Hong Kong, Viola Yip is a New York-based experimental composer, performer and curator. Her recent interests fall on exploring the sonic materiality of instruments and found objects, as well as incorporating our musical listening and performing bodies as a form of technology in creating new musical experience.Her works and performances have appeared in places such as Women Composers Festival of Hartford, Ravinia Festival, University of Florida, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, UC San Diego, NASA saxophone conference, PAUSA Art House in Buffalo, Hong Kong Cultural Center, Hong Kong City Hall and Radio 4 at Radio and Television Hong Kong, Abrons Arts Center, DiMenna Center for Classical Music, Secret Theater and Flushing Town Hall in NYC, unternehmen mitte in Basel and University of Huddersfield. Her recent collaborations include working with ICE ensemble, JACK quartet, Yarn/Wire, Marco Fusi and Lauren DeBoer among others.She is currently pursuing her PhD in music composition at Graduate School of Arts and Science of New York University.
Sofy (@horusVacui) is a site-specific media artist and educator working with video, interactivity, projections, code, paper, and salvaged material. Her work focuses on techno-occult rituals, street performance, and participatory art. Sofy’s performances enact and reframe hegemonies, she works with materials that exemplify our deep entanglement with petro-culture and technology’s affect on consciousness. She has worked on projects at Eyebeam, 3LD, the Rubin Museum, the Netherlands Institute voor Media Kunst, ARS Electronica, Games for Learning Institute, The Guggenheim (NYC), The National Mall and has taught workshops at GAFFTA, and MoMA. She is a PhD Candidate in Audio-Visual Composition at NYU GSAS.
Founder and Director of Brooklyn Studios for Dance (BkSD). Dancer, Puppeteer, Carpenter, producer of Object Theatre. Fajans partnered with Cadman Congregational Church in Brooklyn to renovate their 1920’s era gymnasium into BkSD. Since opening in 2015 BkSD has offered classes, workshops, and performances featuring the work of hundreds of teaching and performing artists. His performing company, the Brooklyn Touring Outfit, was awarded Most Outstanding Choreography at the Montréal Fringe Festival in 2015 for Co. Venture, remounted the work at the Centaur Theater (Montréal), and gave their US premier at Baryshnikov Arts Center in 2016. Fajans was personal assistant to Merce Cunningham and toured with the Cunningham Company as production staff and assistant to Cunningham Archivist, David Vaughan, through the final world tour, and was the production/stage manager for New York Theatre Ballet. Fajans has created work through St. Ann’s Puppet Lab and his latest work, Co. Incident, was presented at JACK in 2017. He was a puppeteer in Hagoromo at Brooklyn Academy of Music and The Windup Bird Chronicle at the Ohio Theater and has shown work through Movement Research at Judson Church, 92Y – Fridays at Noon, and DraftWork at Danspace. Fajans received his BA from Sarah Lawrence College, and has taught through Sarah Lawrence College and Pratt Institute.
