Fridays, Oct. 6 – Nov. 17
Class will serve as a safe space for investigating the spontaneity, humor and messiness of performance. We will use improvisation as a jumping off point for finding a deeper connection between body and space, attempting to maintain that authenticity of movement as class progresses into more codified technical work. By feeding into our creative impulses, we will shed away our preconceived notions of style and affectation and access our own authentic performance eccentricities.

The residency will begin September and run through March 2018, culminating in a developmental performance of a new work, You Can’t Have This (working title). During the residency, the company will be taking advantage of the flexibility of BKSD’s studio, devising material based on the question: What were the things you loved growing up that you had to keep secret? This residency will also include Contemporary Dance Classes taught by Brendan Drake.
